NursingLink.com published an article comparing nursing with various degrees. I hope it will help explain why Barry is going for his BSN. He is actually thinking about pursuing the doctorate in nursing that Viterbo is planning to offer by the time he graduates.
The associate degree was going to take nearly as long as the BSN, considering the waiting list he would have to be on, and it really did not make sense.
I have an acquaintance who did the associate thing, I think. Either way, she's an LPN now as opposed to an RN. She's been out of school for months and can't find a job with that credential. I think that Barry's definitely on the right track career wise.
ReplyDeleteIn the interest of fairness, I will add that my friend's program, for some reason that I don't get, did not include phlebotomy. I just don't see how a nursing program can not teach a person how to draw blood, but she can place a Foley. Go figure.
