Professor Elemental on how we murder the Queen's English here in the Colonies

  1. Hmm, and that's just between England and Canada! My DD is living in England, and the kids go to a British School. The older is already encountering differences in spelling, though he's only in what would be first grade here. The younger (age 4 next month, would be Pre-K here) is very particular about words, and will correct his mother when she use the Queen's English. If she says, "Stay on the walk," he says "No, Mom, it's SIDEWALK." I don't know if he corrects his teachers that way. They'll probably be there for 5-6 years (SIL is Air Force), and they're gonna have a time of it when they come home!

I thought Word Verification would be enough to discourage spammers, but evidently not. So I'm turning on Comment Moderation for awhile to see if that helps. Please don't be deterred from leaving real comments. I love them!
