A fire at the
Jacksonville, Fla., Humane Society destroyed the facility and took the lives of many animals in this no-kill shelter over the weekend. Firefighters rescued animals up to the last possible moment, when the roof came down, and were responsible for the fact that more than half the pets in the shelter were saved.
