Seventeen years ago today...

... something interesting happened, but I'm having the hardest time remembering what it was.

Oh yeah, now I remember! My son Kieffer was born. He weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces. He was tall and thin. He had a lovely pair of lungs and was strong and healthy. He was then and is now very precious to us. Also he is still tall and thin.

In honor of Kieffer, I have a chocolate cake in the oven. It's an old recipe of my mother's and you can find it here.

  1. Happy birthday Kieffer!

Hope you've enjoyed the chocolate cake.
I know I would have done.
I also hope you enjoy the sweet (is that right to say, when one talks to a boy?) seventeen, every minute of it.
"If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"

  2. Happy Birthday, Kieffer! Don't suppose you remember the day you were small enough to sit crossed-legged in a box once used to hold envelopes. We passed a fun afternoon sliding you around the living room floor of your CA home in it. Still have a photo, somewhere.

I thought Word Verification would be enough to discourage spammers, but evidently not. So I'm turning on Comment Moderation for awhile to see if that helps. Please don't be deterred from leaving real comments. I love them!
