New Albin Library Quilt Show 2007

Rushford, Minnesota, was one of the towns hardest hit by the flash flooding that struck our area in late summer. One of their losses was the town's library, which lost most of its collection to flood waters.

New Albin's city library held a benefit quilt show to raise money for Rushford's library, raising over $500 in one weekend. Excellent work.

To take a closer look at any of the quilts, click here to go to the Photobucket album.

These are my favorites: Photo #'s 1855, 1839, 1872, 1868. Did you make a quilt this year?

Oooh, yes, that 1855 one was gorgeous - and half of the beauty is in the wonderful machine quilting which you can't see in my picture. Very dense, follows the design. That's a quilt made to last!

My personal favorite is pictured in DSC_1853.jpg, made by my friend Dorothy Van (she's the lady in the sleeveless blue dress in a couple of photos). She called it "Flying Home."

I have not made ANY quilts in the last year -- very sad. I did put one from the past in: DSC_1851.jpg is a "Family Tree" made for my parents' anniversary. And I put in the last quilt that my grandma pieced AND quilted by herself, a crazy patch pictured in DSC_1842.jpg. She had a machine quilting business in the 1960s and 1970s in Kansas. She pieced some quilts after this one but it was the last she also quilted.
