Mole holes? Nope - pocket gophers.

I thought the bazillion holes in our lawn were from moles, but then I spotted one of the culprits, and he's a pocket gopher. He was absolutely adorable! K wanted to catch him and make him into a pet. He's just a little bit bigger than a field mouse, but with this big head, and so round.

I am still not crazy about the holes but he's too adorable to trap or poison. Look at that fuzzy head. *smooch*

OK, I'm having a Caddyshack moment right about now.

Did you take that photo? If you did, you were close enough to catch him! Something is digging lots of holes in my yard, too, but I'm a LLLOOONNNGG way from Iowa!

What a furry charmer.
Glad he lives in far away land though.

Connie, Barry really liked your comment. :)

Anna, no, I took that picture off the Web. He was just outside my front door but as soon as I started to ease the door open, he was down his hole.

Felisol, I'm glad you like him. I'll send him and whole bunch of his brothers and sisters to you airmail, okay?
