What's for Supper: Something with hot dogs but no buns.

I love allrecipes.com's ingredient search! You put in a few things you have and it will suggest recipes using those ingredients. If you're allergic to something, or just don't have it, put it in the "ingredients I don't want" list. Bingo.

Today, I'm not finished with work yet, and there is a New Albin Days Committee meeting tonight, so I needed something quick and easy. Hot dogs are the only meat that's thawed, so I put "hot dogs" into search. First it offered all kinds of fancied-up hot dog recipes on buns. But we don't have any buns. (Or maybe we have, like, one, petrified one in the bottom of the freezer.) So I put "buns" in the other column, of ingredients I don't want, and chose Easy, Cheap and Yummy Casserole. It's canned baked beans, hot dogs cut up into slices, and a topping of cornbread. I don't have cornbread mix so I mixed up a batch from scratch. For fun, I used blue corn meal. The beans are vegetarian Bush's beans in the big can, and the hot dogs are turkey, so no red meat for this meal. It is in the oven now and smelling good. I put it all in a cast iron frying pan to bake rather than the baking dish they suggested.

My daughter-in-law uses All Recipes all the time. I always forget to look at it - my loss, huh? What a great recipe - quick and easy. My kind of cookin'!
